Styling | Mother's Day Brunch
Spring has finally sprung which means Mother’s Day is right around the corner. In order to celebrate, I styled a Mother’s Day brunch to give you some entertaining inspiration.
I love setting up a good table scape. Honestly, setting the table is more of my specialty when it comes to hosting than the actually cooking part. I’m thankful for amazingly talented local friends & businesses who offer amazing catering options. I’ve also learned that there are options for every size of gathering - you don’t necessarily have to order a large quantity when you want to skip the cooking.
If you live in the Fargo area, you’ve likely experienced the amazing Nichole’s Fine Pastries. I ordered a variety of pastries - the chocolate scones are to die for - and a quiche that was equally delicious and beautiful. For desert, I enlisted the help of the amazing Cakes By Althea to bake a delicious vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and buttercream frosting.
When it comes to the actual table scape, I love to use layers. I went with a floral floral table cloth in the most beautiful blush and navy tones from McGee & Co. topped with a navy and white runner.
As much as I love layers, I equally love texture. I complimented our woven dining chairs - (outdoor grade, hello durability!) - with beautiful woven chargers from Brooke & Lou. These help make the table scape feel a little more elevated with out being too formal.
I pulled out a few wooden boards to serve the quiche and pastries. This adds some warmth to the table and is also a super functional way to serve these items. I chose a simple white cake plate.
I love a good linen napkin, but I recently found the most beautiful paper source for party supplies, Coterie. Who doesn’t love beautiful and easy clean up?! I wrapped the napkins in a simple yarn. I chose brass cutlery which adds a fun but elevated feel to the table.
My vintage etched water glasses & pitcher are my favorite items to use when hosting. These were a wedding gift from my mom, so they also have special meaning to them & fit perfectly for our celebratory brunch.
The final touches to every good table scape are of course florals. I do love arranging my own florals, but of course when it comes to time I love enlisting the help of the talented local Love Always Floral. Their “designers choice” option is my favorite, you’re always bound to get a fresh and fun floral arrangement. To tie together the brass, I went with brass candle sticks and blush pink tapers for a fun feminine feel.
Other than being my first phone call for anything in life - some may already know my mom, Jane - plays a role behind the scenes of Lindsey Grace Interiors. She successfully ran her own company along my dad for many years. Growing up I had a front row seat at everything it takes to run a business. So, while we are busy creating - my mom helps with the book keeping and other business necessities. I would not be where I am today without her love, guidance and support.
Moms are truly the best. So gather your momma friends, your mom & grandmother, and enjoy a special spring brunch together!
